Royal Mail has confirmed there will be no deliveries or collections across Scotland, including Glasgow, on Monday as the Spring Bank Holiday suspends all postal services.<\/p>\n

Royal Mail<\/a> has issued a warning to customers in Scottish postcodes that there will be “no deliveries or collections” today. The postal service usually aims to deliver letters six days a week, with parcel deliveries also running on Sundays.<\/p>\n

However, as of Monday, May 25, Royal Mail operations have been suspended. Due to the Spring Bank Holiday, the company will not be conducting any mail collections or deliveries.<\/p>\n

Royal Mail said: “We deliver and collect your mail on most days of the year, including Saturdays. However, we don’t usually deliver or collect on public or local holidays.”<\/p>\n

Services will be unavailable throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, with the exception of Ayr (KA6-KA8).<\/p>\n

The company has come under increasing scrutiny over delayed deliveries and was slapped with a \u00a321 million fine by Ofcom in October. The penalty was imposed after it failed to meet targets, having delivered only 77% of First Class post and 92.5% of Second Class post on time in 2024 to 2025, reports the Mirror, reports the Daily Record<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Royal Mail has subsequently committed to achieving its letter delivery targets by May 2027 as part of a \u00a3500 million recovery plan.<\/p>\n

In a bid to reach those targets, Royal Mail is planning to end its Saturday Second Class deliveries and move to alternate weekdays.<\/p>\n

This would mean deliveries three days one week and two days the following week. First Class Next Day delivery targets are expected to improve to approximately 85% within nine months, before hitting the 90% target set by regulator Ofcom within a year. Royal Mail also committed to delivering 93% of Second Class letters within three days over a nine-month period, with a pledge to achieve the 95% target by May next year.<\/p>\n

Last week, Royal Mail released an update for customers using its parcel services. In a Facebook post, the postal service announced the launch of a newly overhauled online experience.<\/p>\n

Royal Mail said: “Sending parcels just got a whole lot easier! We’ve listened to your feedback and revamped our online postage experience.<\/p>\n

“Now, when you buy postage online, you’ll see our most popular options first to save you time. Plus, our brand new Postage Builder will recommend the best services for you.”<\/p>\n

A Royal Mail worker explained: “We’ve made it easier than ever to find and purchase the perfect postage option for your parcels. Next time you’re sending something, you’ll now see the most popular options first.<\/p>\n

“So, if you’re in a hurry, you’re only a few clicks away from getting your parcel ready to send. Simply tell us the size and weight of your parcel, how quickly you need it to be delivered, and if you need any extras such as tracking, guaranteed delivery, a photo on delivery, or a signature.<\/p>\n

“We will then recommend the best postage services for you to choose from. Click on the postage option you want, and add a few extra details before adding to your basket.
