The Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary is to meet the family of murdered Birmingham<\/a> teenager Dea-John Reid.<\/p>\n

The 14-year-old “budding footballer” was chased down, racially abused and stabbed through the chest by a gang who accused him of being involved in an attempted theft on May 31, 2021.<\/p>\n

A 15-year-old boy was cleared of murder but convicted of the manslaughter while, Michael Shields, 36, of Alvis Walk, Castle Bromwich, George Khan, 39, of Newstead Road, Kingstanding,<\/a> along with a 16-year-old and another 15-year-old, were cleared of murder.<\/p>\n

David Lammy has agreed to speak with Dea-John’s devastated mother Joan Morris who is bereft at the lack of justice for her “lovely” son.<\/p>\n

A campaign, led by Bishop Dr Desmond Jaddoo MBE, is advocating for reforms aimed at ensuring greater fairness and balance within jury representation, particularly in cases involving allegations of racial injustice.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a memorial marking five years since his murder will take place on the corner of College Road and Wardour road, opposite the McDonald’s<\/a> on May 31 from 5pm.<\/p>\n

Bishop Dr Desmond Jaddoo MBE said: \u201cThe purpose of this vigil is to remember Dea-John and to ensure that our campaign continues.<\/p>\n
