{"id":98454,"date":"2025-05-13T16:06:18","date_gmt":"2025-05-13T16:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/98454\/"},"modified":"2025-05-13T16:06:18","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T16:06:18","slug":"apple-vision-pro-will-magnify-describe-find-or-read-anything-in-view","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/98454\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple Vision Pro Will Magnify, Describe, Find, Or Read Anything In View"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apple Vision Pro is getting the ability to magnify passthrough, as well as to describe, find, or read anything in your view using on-device AI.<\/p>\n<p>These accessibility features, which Apple says are designed for people who are blind or have low vision, are set to arrive in a visionOS update later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Last year Apple <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uploadvr.com\/apple-vision-pro-getting-live-captions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> accessibility features a month in advance of revealing visionOS 2 at WWDC24, so these features might be seen in visionOS 3 at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uploadvr.com\/apples-wwdc-2025-date-announced\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WWDC25<\/a> next month.<\/p>\n<p>Passthrough Zoom &amp; Live Recognition<\/p>\n<p>The improved magnification functionality will arrive as an update to the Zoom accessibility feature, which currently only magnifies virtual content. With the update, it will also magnify the real world.<\/p>\n<p>The enhanced Zoom accessibility coming to visionOS later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the ability to describe, find, or read anything in view will be an extension of VoiceOver, which currently functions as a screen reader. Called\u00a0Live Recognition, Apple says the feature will process the passthrough view using on-device machine learning to &#8220;describe surroundings, find objects, read documents, and more&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Passthrough API For Accessibility<\/p>\n<p>Apple also says it will offer a new API for &#8220;accessibility developers&#8221; in &#8220;approved apps&#8221; to access the passthrough view &#8220;to provide live, person-to-person assistance for visual interpretation&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>While the Meta Horizon OS of Quest headsets <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uploadvr.com\/quest-passthrough-camera-api-now-shippable-on-store\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">now<\/a> lets all apps access the passthrough cameras if the user grants permission, and Google&#8217;s Android XR will too at launch, visionOS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uploadvr.com\/apple-vision-pro-enterprise-raw-camera-access\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">currently<\/a> only allows this for non-public enterprise apps &#8220;for use in a business setting only&#8221;, and getting this access requires a special license from Apple.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"kg-bookmark-container\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uploadvr.com\/quest-passthrough-camera-api-now-shippable-on-store\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/p>\n<p>Quest\u2019s Passthrough Camera API Can Now Be Used In Store Apps<\/p>\n<p>The Quest 3 &amp; Quest 3S Passthrough Camera API can now be used in shipping apps on the Meta Horizon Store.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Quest-Passthrough-Camera-API.png\" alt=\"\" onerror=\"this.style.display = 'none'\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Apple&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-gb\/guide\/apple-vision-pro\/tanae5174040\/visionos?ref=uploadvr.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wording<\/a> in announcing wider passthrough camera access suggests that it will only be for accessibility apps after a specific approval process.
