Fans of Si\u00e2n Brooke<\/a>‘s BBC crime drama<\/a> Blue Lights<\/a> won’t be disappointed by the next instalment in the series, with the star dubbing the upcoming third season its best yet.<\/p>\n

During a red-carpet interview with Radio Times<\/a>, Brooke teased an “intense” and “surprising” season three.<\/p>\n

“We’re just coming to the end of [filming],” she told Radio Times at the BAFTA TV Awards<\/a>. “We’re about to enter our last week of filming. <\/p>\n

“The writing I think on this one, it just blows it out the water \u2013 I don’t know how these guys get better and better, but they do.”<\/p>\n

She went on to praise the “finely crafted” characters. “There’s a lot of care that’s gone into making them, and they’re very individual and so people have related to them. They want to know what happens, where the story ends.”<\/p>\n

Blue Lights went on to triumph at the BAFTAs, scooping the award for Best Drama. <\/p>\n

The crime series has already been confirmed for an additional fourth season with the season three synopsis reading: “Two years into their jobs as response officers, Grace, Annie and Tommy are accustomed to life under the blue lights.<\/p>\n

“But their work will take them into a sinister world hidden behind the veneer of middle-class life, the world of the accountants and lawyers who facilitate organised crime.<\/p>\n

“The old political and criminal order has gone and a new global gang rule Belfast, bringing danger closer to home for our officers than ever before.”<\/p>\n

When is the release date for Blue Lights and where can I watch it?<\/p>\n

A release date for Blue Lights season three is still a little way off yet, but we suspect the next chapter will debut late 2025 or early 2026.<\/p>\n

Seasons one and two debuted in March 2023 and April 2024 respectively. However, Brooke explained that delays were caused due, in part, to the show’s double renewal, which left the team needing more time for additional planning and coordination (via Den of Geek<\/a>). <\/p>\n

Who stars in Blue Lights season 3?<\/p>\n

Brooke will be back in season three, which means the return of Constable Grace Ellis. She reprises her role alongside Martin McCann, who will step back into the part of officer Stevie Neil.<\/p>\n

Also returning for season three will be Katherine Devlin, Nathan Braniff, Joanne Crawford, Andi Osho and Frank Blake as Annie Conlon, Tommy Foster, Helen McNally, Sandra Cliff and Shane Bradley respectively.<\/p>\n

Who is the team behind Blue Lights?<\/p>\n

Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson are the co-creators, writers and directors of Blue Lights. The police procedural is also co-created and produced by Stephen Wright of Two Cities Television and by Louise Gallagher of Gallagher Films with support from Northern Ireland Screen. <\/p>\n

Wright, Gallagher, Lawn and Patterson also serve as the show’s executive producers alongside BBC executive producer Nick Lambon.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the show’s BAFTA win, co-creator Lawn thanked Blue Light’s “amazing cast and crew, both those here and those back in Belfast”.<\/p>\n

He stated: “Thank you finally, to the people of our home city, for letting us tell your stories. Belfast \u2013 this one’s for you.”<\/p>\n
