{"id":98721,"date":"2025-05-13T18:24:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-13T18:24:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/98721\/"},"modified":"2025-05-13T18:24:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T18:24:08","slug":"germany-bans-the-far-right-kingdom-of-germany-group-and-arrests-4-of-its-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/98721\/","title":{"rendered":"Germany bans the far-right &#8216;Kingdom of Germany&#8217; group and arrests 4 of its leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BERLIN (AP) \u2014 The German government on Tuesday banned the <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/9324f596204a0e83d92fbdbba33d066b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">far-right organization<\/a> \u201cKingdom of Germany\u201d as a threat to the country\u2019s democratic order and arrested four of its leaders in raids across several states.<\/p>\n<p>The group is part of the country\u2019s so-called Reich Citizen, or Reichsb\u00fcrger, movement that claims the historical German Reich still exists and refuses to recognize the current democratic government or its parliament, laws and courts. Members also refuse to pay taxes or fines.<\/p>\n<p>About 800 police officers launched raids Tuesday on the group\u2019s properties and the homes of its leading members throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p>Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, in announcing the ban on the group, said its members have underpinned their claims to power using antisemitic conspiracy narratives that cannot be tolerated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe members of this association have created a \u2018counter-state\u2019 in our country and built up economic criminal structures,\u201d Dobrindt said. \u201cWe will take decisive action against those who attack our free democratic basic order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among those arrested Tuesday was the group leader Peter Fitzek.
