On Tuesday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot stated that no one can dictate Paris’ stance on recognizing a Palestinian state. He urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to cease using brutal force in Gaza and shift its focus to diplomacy and negotiations for a ceasefire. <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cNo one will dictate France\u2019s position. France will do it because France believes in a lasting political solution for the region, in the interest of Israel\u2019s security as well as in the interest of the Palestinians\u2019 security,\u201d Barrot said during a question-and-answer session at the National Assembly, News.Az<\/a> reports citing foreign media.<\/a><\/p>\n Barrot reiterated their goal of bringing together countries willing to recognize Palestine as a state.<\/p>\n \u201cIn no way has the brutal force promised by Mr. Netanyahu\u2019s government today enabled the release of the hostages, nor has it led to the disarmament of Hamas so far.”<\/p>\n “And that brutal force must now give way to diplomacy, to negotiation for a ceasefire, for the unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid that civilians in Gaza need, and for the release of all hostages held in Hamas\u2019s tunnels,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n His remarks come after Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa\u2019ar denounced French President Emmanuel Macron\u2019s decision to recognize a Palestinian state in June.<\/p>\n \u201cA \u2018unilateral recognition\u2019 of a fictional Palestinian state, by any country, in the reality that we all know, will be a prize for terror and a boost for Hamas,\u201d Sa\u2019ar claimed in a statement on X.<\/p>\n
