EastEnders is reportedly lining up the long-term future of Sharon Watts after the fan-favourite character made a surprising return in Tuesday’s (26 May) episode<\/a>. The question is though, how long will she remain in Walford for?<\/p>\n

Letitia Dean reprised her role as the iconic figure after several months away from the BBC soap, with the character returning to Albert Square with Albie for the wedding of Vicki Fowler and Ross Marshall<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Though the development was a welcome surprise for many viewers, it wasn’t apparent if Dean’s latest appearance was part of a wider extended stint. But soap journalist Sharon Marshall has delivered some exciting news for fans.<\/p>\n

“She will come back for a very short stint now, just for the wedding, and then go off. But then she is back for good in about a month\u2019s time. So we have got Shazza back, the world is healing!” the soap expert said on today’s episode of This Morning<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sharon abruptly left Albert Square back in October, with the character repeatedly clashing with Zoe Slater<\/a> following the devastating lies she told regarding the paternity of her son, Albie.<\/p>\n

Alice Haig, who portrays Vicki, was actually asked about the possibility of her half-sister returning for her big wedding day, with the actor saying: “Wouldn’t that be lovely! Vicki is going to need all the family she can get.”<\/p>\n

Sharon wasn’t the only big character to return to East London earlier this week, with Shona McGarty surprisingly reprising her role as Whitney Dean<\/a> two years after her exit from the soap.<\/p>\n

During Monday’s (25 May) episode, the character reunited with former flame Zack Hudson, who attempted to convince her to move back to Walford. His attempts were fruitless, however, as Whitney confirmed that she was seeing somebody else.<\/p>\n

McGarty subsequently disappointed fans<\/a> by saying her return was merely a one-off appearance, with the actor saying in a behind-the-scenes video: “So that is a wrap. First day back and the only day back.”<\/p>\n

EastEnders<\/strong> airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast. <\/strong><\/p>\n
