{"id":98876,"date":"2025-05-13T19:45:13","date_gmt":"2025-05-13T19:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/98876\/"},"modified":"2025-05-13T19:45:13","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T19:45:13","slug":"king-charles-and-the-queen-attend-lavish-soiree-raising-money-for-the-conservation-charity-founded-by-her-late-brother-mark-shand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/98876\/","title":{"rendered":"King Charles and the Queen attend lavish\u00a0soir\u00e9e raising money for the conservation charity founded by her late brother Mark Shand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"author-section byline-plain\">By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/profile-3509\/maria-chiorando.html\" class=\"author\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MARIA CHIORANDO FOR MAILONLINE<\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"byline-section\"> Published:  14:51 EDT, 13 May 2025   |  Updated:  15:11 EDT, 13 May 2025   <\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The King and Queen have attended a lavish 250-guest event raising funds for a conservation charity founded by Camilla&#8217;s late brother Mark Shand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Charles, 76, and Camilla, 77,\u00a0stepped out at the Wonders of the Wild event hosted by the Elephant Family at\u00a0The Temperate House in Kew Gardens\u00a0on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">They joined a number of high profile guests, including\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/princess-beatrice\/index.html\" id=\"mol-efd3fa70-3027-11f0-bd1c-471cf46b3dd8\" class=\"class\" rel=\"noopener\">Princess Beatrice<\/a>, Lady Marina Windsor, Ed Westwick and <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/sophie-ellis-bextor\/index.html\" id=\"mol-8798f240-302b-11f0-bd1c-471cf46b3dd8\" rel=\"noopener\">Sophie Ellis-Bextor<\/a>\u00a0among others.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Elephant Family was founded in 2002 by the duchess&#8217;s beloved late brother, Mark Shand, who died in New York after an accidental fall in 2014, aged 62.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Mark founded the organisation to protect the endangered Asian Elephant. Since its inception, it has become known for\u00a0using the power of art to inspire action for wildlife.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Tonight&#8217;s Wonders of the Wild event was the grand finale of the charity\u2019s Big Egg Hunt, which was delivered in partnership with Clarence Court.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The campaign featured more than 120 giant egg sculptures designed by leading names from fashion, art and design. They were displayed across <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/london\/index.html\" id=\"mol-363802a0-302c-11f0-bd1c-471cf46b3dd8\" rel=\"noopener\">London<\/a> as part of a free art trail in iconic locations including <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/buckingham-palace\/index.html\" id=\"mol-3636a310-302c-11f0-bd1c-471cf46b3dd8\" class=\"class\" rel=\"noopener\">Buckingham Palace<\/a>, Battersea Power Station, the Royal Albert Hall, Sloane Street and Canary Wharf.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Stepping out at the soir\u00e9e this evening, Camilla looked\u00a0effortlessly elegant in a pale cream three quarter-length tunic and trousers.<\/p>\n<p>   <img decoding=\"async\" id=\"i-5fe67c214cd419ca\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/98346563-14708295-image-m-35_1747162007243.jpg\" height=\"907\" width=\"634\" alt=\"King Charles and Queen Camilla are pictured attending the Elephant Family Evening of Art and Conservation at Kew Gardens on Tuesday evening\" class=\"blkBorder img-share\" style=\"max-width:100%\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>   <\/p>\n<p class=\"imageCaption\">King Charles and Queen Camilla are pictured attending the Elephant Family Evening of Art and Conservation at Kew Gardens on Tuesday evening<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Meanwhile, Charles looked dapper in a blue two-piece suit with a navy tie boasting an elephant print.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Charles and Camilla, who are joint presidents of Elephant Family, were greeted by the Lord-Lieutenant, Kew Gardens director Richard Deverell and the British Asian Trust&#8217;s chair Lord Gadhia upon their arrival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Guests then listened to speeches by\u00a0Lord Ghadia and Elephant Family CEO, Richard Hawkes, which were\u00a0followed by a short film about the charity&#8217;s work, and a presentation of awards.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Following Their Majesties departure, a live auction featured some of the eggs on display.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">A silent auction included three nights at a safari resort in Nepal courtesy of Taj Hotels, a stay in the penthouse of Nobu London and a diamond elephant necklace, created by Chopard.
