Madeleine McCann\u2019s brother is tipped to represent Britain on the world stage as he swims for team GB in the 2028 Olympics.<\/p>\n

Sean McCann, 20, has competitively swam since the age of eight. He is also set to represent Scotland at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old, who studies Mechanical Engineering at University, described his journey as a swimmer: \u201cAt the age of ten, I was selected to swim at the City of Leicester, and I have since gone on to win multiple county titles, as well as becoming regional and national champion in my age group.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn order to have achieved this, I have had to remain extremely dedicated, getting up at 4am multiple mornings each week to train.\u201d He said that he spends around 20 hours in the gym a week.<\/p>\n

Despite Sean and his twin sister Amelie being just two years old when their elder sister Madeleine vanished and too young to remember the tragedy, her absence has shaped their lives forever.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey’ve always been in Madeleine’s shadow, and just been the McCann twins,\u201d a family friend told the Mail. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut now they are young adults, they are carving out their own lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

His sister Amelie is studying at a university in the North East and has competed in multiple cross country and triathlon events.<\/p>\n

The twins were sharing a room with their sister when she vanished during a holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007.<\/p>\n

Writing online, she said: \u201cAs we do every year, we gathered in our village yesterday evening to mark the anniversary of our daughter Madeleine\u2019s abduction.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a special event and lovely to sense the hope and warmth of those who were there. <\/p>\n
