Glasgow street locked down after ‘shooting’ as elderly man rushed to hospital<\/p>\n

A pensioner has been rushed to hospital following a ‘shooting’ on a Glasgow street.<\/a><\/p>\n

Armed police rushed to Crichton Street in Springburn this afternoon. The alarm<\/a> was raised around 12.40pm on Thursday, May 28.<\/p>\n

A 78-year-old man was blue-lighted to hospital for treatment to a non-life-threatening injury. Officers have locked down Crichton Street at Gourlay Street and members of the public are strongly advised to avoid the area.<\/a><\/p>\n

Officers remain on the scene<\/a> and a search of the area is being carried out to find the suspect. Police say firearms officers are in attendance “as a precaution”.<\/p>\n

The force say extensive enquiries<\/a> are ongoing. Anyone with information has been urged to approach officers or contact 101.<\/p>\n

A Police Scotland<\/a> spokesperson said: “Around 12.40pm on Thursday, 28 May, 2026, we received a report of a man injured by a possible firearm outside an address on Crichton Street in Springburn, Glasgow.<\/p>\n

“Police are in attendance and a search of the area is being carried out. Specialist firearms officers are also in attendance, as a precaution, and extensive enquiries are ongoing.<\/p>\n

“The man, aged 78, has been taken to hospital for treatment to a non-life-threatening injury.<\/p>\n

“Crichton Street is closed at Gourlay Street and people are advised to avoid the area while enquiries are carried out.<\/p>\n

“Anyone with any concerns or information can approach officers, or call 101 using reference number 1478 of Thursday, 28 May, 2026.”<\/p>\n
