\n\t\u201cJohn Rambo<\/a>,\u201d a prequel in the long-running action franchise, will hit theaters next summer.<\/p>\n

\n\tLionsgate has slated the film for June 4, 2027. It\u2019s scheduled to debut just ahead of Disney\u2019s \u201cStar Wars: Starfighter\u201d (May 28) and a few weeks before Sony\u2019s \u201cSpider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse\u201d (June 11) and the Warner Bros. \u201cOceans\u201d prequel (June 25). <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cJohn Rambo\u201d serves as an origin story, taking place before the events 1982\u2019s \u201cFirst Blood,\u201d the Sylvester Stallone-led action adventure that ignited the franchise. Sequels include 1985\u2019s \u201cRambo: First Blood Part II,\u201d 1988\u2019s \u201cRambo III,\u201d 2008\u2019s \u201cRambo\u201d and 2019\u2019s \u201cRambo: Last Blood.\u201d The series revolves around a United States Army Special Forces veteran, whose Vietnam War experience traumatized him but also gave him superior military skills. He uses those abilities to fight corrupt police officers, enemy troops and drug cartels. <\/p>\n

\n\tNoah Centineo is taking over as the Stallone character, and he\u2019ll star alongside\u00a0David Harbour as Major Trautman as well as\u00a0Yao and\u00a0James Franco in unknown roles. The cast also includes Jason Tobin (\u201cA Thousand Blows\u201d), Quincy Isaiah (\u201cWinning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty\u201d), Jefferson White (\u201cYellowstone\u201d) and Tayme Thapthimthong (\u201cThe White Lotus\u201d).<\/p>\n

\n\tJalmari Helander (\u201cSisu\u201d) directed \u201cJohn Rambo\u201d from a script by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. Producers include Kevin King Templeton, Les Weldon,\u00a0Jonathan Yunger, Angela Russo-Otstot and Michael Disco. Executive\u00a0producers are Sylvester Stallone, Anthony & Joe Russo,\u00a0Trevor\u00a0Short, Dallas Sonnier and\u00a0Amanda\u00a0Presmyk.<\/p>\n
