\n\tSideral Cinema<\/a> has acquired international sales and Spanish distribution rights to \u201cLorca: The Broken Voice<\/a>\u201d (\u201cLa voz quebrada\u201d), Manuel Mench\u00f3n Romero\u2019s feature documentary exploring a little-known chapter in the life of Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tWritten and directed by Mench\u00f3n, the feature documentary is produced by Argentina\u2019s K&S Films and Spain\u2019s Pantalla Partida Producciones and Imagine! Films, with the participation of public broadcaster RTVE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is framed as both a historical investigation and an impossible-love story, drawing on two notebooks and a suitcase full of documents that, according to a synopsis, shed light on Lorca\u2019s murder and on his last, unknown great love.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe documentary is narrated through letters, diaries and secrets left by its protagonists, using historical and previously unknown materials to revisit the life and death of one of Spain\u2019s most beloved and internationally recognized poets.<\/p>\n

\n\tA key element in the film is one of Mench\u00f3n\u2019s major discoveries during the research process: previously unseen footage of Lorca in motion while traveling with his theater company, La Barraca, in the early 1930s.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe footage was found by Mench\u00f3n in the private archive of the family of Ram\u00f3n Men\u00e9ndez Pidal, the eminent Spanish philologist and historian.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt was located inside a can of photographic and film material and later restored. In the images, a car from the 1920s climbs a dirt mountain road; through the rear window, several people can be seen packed inside, among them Lorca, traveling with members of La Barraca.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe footage gives \u201cLorca: The Broken Voice\u201d a powerful archival hook, given the scarcity of moving images of the Granada-born writer, who was murdered in August 1936, at the age of 38, during the early months of the Spanish Civil War.<\/p>\n

\n\tSideral said the acquisition reaffirms its commitment to building a robust catalogue of high-quality, relevant and contemporary Spanish fiction and non-fiction content for all audiences.<\/p>\n

\n\tMar\u00eda Oliva, Sideral\u2019s head of distribution, described the film as \u201cunique and moving,\u201d adding: \u201cWatching it is as thrilling as discovering a treasure.
