A major search operation carried out earlier after reports of an unoccupied jet ski in Belfast Lough has ended.<\/p>\n
The Rescue 199 helicopter from Prestwick was involved in the search spanning from Belfast to Carrickfergus, however the helicopter has since been stood down.<\/p>\n
Rescue 199 assisted lifeboats in searching the Lough earlier in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

The Belfast Telegraph understands the search followed reports of a jet ski being spotted off the coast of Carrickfergus without any occupants on board.<\/p>\n

The search operation has ended.<\/p>\n
In a statement an HM Coastguard spokesperson said: \u201cAt around 12.15pm this afternoon, HM Coastguard was called to reports of an unattended object believed to be a small watercraft at Belfast Lough.<\/p>\n
“Coastguard Rescue Teams from Portmuck, Larne and Bangor were called, alongside two nearby vessels, an HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter and lifeboats from Lagan, Bangor, and Belfast.<\/p>\n
