Fuze, the “twisty” British heist thriller<\/a> starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Theo James, may have only been released in cinemas last month, but it has already found its way to subscription-based streaming<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The film<\/a>, from director David Mackenzie, takes place in London when an unexploded bomb from World War II is discovered on a building site. An evacuation order is put in place for the local area, and a specialist military unit is called in to assist with the defusal. <\/p>\n

The situation provides ample cover for a group of thieves, who decide to use the chaos as a smokescreen to pull off a major bank robbery. Naturally, their ‘perfect’ plan proves far harder to pull off than expected. <\/p>\n

Written by Ben Hopkins, the heist thriller has been generally praised by critics, with Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> currently reporting a solid approval rating of 73% from 102 reviews. The audience score, meanwhile, is slightly higher at 78%.<\/p>\n

RogerEbert.com<\/a> lauded the film for its “twisty” narrative, adding: “It’s one of those movies where you don’t so much feel cheated by the twists as emotionally vindicated when they are unveiled.”<\/p>\n

San Jose Mercury News<\/a> called the film a “hyper-efficient thriller that comes fully loaded with eye candy and a gutsy plot detour in its final act”, while Empire Magazine<\/a> dubbed it “solidly edgy” with “the grittiness and violence of a 1970s heist flick”. <\/p>\n
