{"id":995654,"date":"2026-05-31T04:07:35","date_gmt":"2026-05-31T04:07:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/995654\/"},"modified":"2026-05-31T04:07:35","modified_gmt":"2026-05-31T04:07:35","slug":"council-leader-welcomes-magenta-living-pledge-to-increase-home-building-birkenhead-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/995654\/","title":{"rendered":"Council leader welcomes Magenta Living pledge to increase home building \u2013 Birkenhead News"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wirral Council\u2019s Leader has praised a commitment by a major local housing provider to deliver additional new homes across the borough.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Magenta Living has confirmed it will deliver an additional 300 much-needed homes, increasing its target to 1,300 by 2030, and reflecting its continued investment in customers and community.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With 227 new homes currently on\u00a0site, and another 200 due to start by March 2027, 70% of the 1300 homes will be centred around Wirral, and 30% in other parts of the Liverpool City Region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cllr\u00a0Paula Basnett, Leader of Wirral Council, said,\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cIt\u2019s incredibly rewarding to see Magenta delivering new housing across Wirral, providing the homes people in our borough need.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have made it clear I will work closely with our partners to ensure we meet the needs of our residents, so it\u2019s a pleasure to work with an organisation that puts such a strong focus on building high-quality and energy-efficient homes and supporting local communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The housebuilding projects also reflect the confidence of Wirral\u2019s biggest housing provider. They are using new and innovative ways of building homes that are more energy\u2011efficient, helping customers keep their energy bills down.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Magenta Living\u2019s target for social value investment is to double to \u00a360million per year, after reaching its original target well ahead of schedule, which means\u00a0more funding for community groups and their own support for local initiatives.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An exciting new project in West Kirby will use innovative construction methods in partnership with local company Starship, to minimise disruption to neighbours and bring an empty, derelict,\u00a0area\u00a0back into use.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Five more projects will provide family homes and supported living homes across the Liverpool City Region:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Sandbank point, West Kirby, (mentioned above), 14 homes built in partnership with Starship<\/li>\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Three Sails Point, Widnes: 33 homes, to complement 60 homes already completed in Phase one<\/li>\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Brook Gardens, Moreton: 44 homes<\/li>\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Lottie Gardens, Bebington: 46 homes<\/li>\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Merse, Bromborough: 50 homes<\/li>\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Brook Meadow, Sandymoor: 40 homes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Paul McGrady, CFO of Magenta Living, said, <\/strong>\u201cBy listening to customers and partners, we\u2019ve strengthened our ambition to deliver 1,300 new homes, responding directly to local housing need.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cInvolving people early helps us plan better, build the right homes in the right places, and reduce the need for temporary housing. Our focus is on creating stable, supportive communities where people can build better futures, and these six projects demonstrate our commitment towards this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The commitment to build additional homes is part of Magenta Living\u2019s \u2018Road to 2030\u2019 strategy released this week.
