{"id":99824,"date":"2025-05-14T04:09:16","date_gmt":"2025-05-14T04:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/99824\/"},"modified":"2025-05-14T04:09:16","modified_gmt":"2025-05-14T04:09:16","slug":"zoo-asks-public-to-be-on-the-lookout-for-escaped-capybara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/99824\/","title":{"rendered":"Zoo asks public to be on the lookout for escaped capybara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>May 12 (UPI) &#8212; A zoo in eastern China is asking for the public&#8217;s help to locate an escaped capybara that has been on the loose for more than 40 days.<\/p>\n<p>The Zhuyuwan Scenic Area in Yangzhou City said three capybaras &#8212; named Doubao, Bazong and Duoduo &#8212; escaped April 3 when Bazong broke through a wooden panel.\n<\/p>\n<p>Bazong and Duoduo were quickly recaptured, but Doubao has managed to evade pursuit for weeks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Investigations indicate that Doubao carries no dangerous weapons and poses no threat to the public, so please don&#8217;t worry,&#8221; the zoo <a href=\"https:\/\/m.weibo.cn\/detail\/5165203198840145\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joked on social media.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Officials offered a reward of free admission to the zoo in exchange for information leading to Doubao&#8217;s capture.<\/p>\n<p>The facility said <a href=\"https:\/\/m.weibo.cn\/status\/5165475769880339\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a follow-up post<\/a> that current weather conditions in the area and the local plant life have left zookeepers with &#8220;no worries&#8221; about Doubao&#8217;s ability to survive on the loose.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because it is close to the canal and Doubao is an excellent swimmer, it is difficult to capture him,&#8221; the zoo said. &#8220;We urge Doubao to surrender himself voluntarily. Wandering outside is not the way to survive.
