Russian President Vladimir Putin has revealed that Ukraine has made new proposals, and stressed that he has been paying close attention to each one.
Putin made the remarks in an interview with state-run media released by the presidential office on Sunday.
He said one proposal is a cessation of strikes deep into territory on both sides.
He also said Ukraine has proposed limiting hostilities to four regions, namely Ukraine’s southern regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia as well as the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the country’s east.
Putin suggested this proposal is due to a shortage of personnel in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and that Kyiv apparently believes this could be its salvation. He added that saving the current Ukraine regime is not part of his plans, but also stressed the proposals are under careful consideration.
Putin acknowledged Russia is currently experiencing fuel shortages due to Ukrainian strikes against its energy facilities, but said the situation is not critical.
Fuel sales have been suspended since June 21 in the southern region of Crimea, which Russia unilaterally annexed.
Putin said energy supplies to the region will increase by transporting fuel by land and by sea. He added that he is certain the issue will be resolved.
