Ukrainian marines launched FPV drones from Barracuda
unmanned surface vessels for the first time, striking Russian positions near
Zaliznyi Port in Kherson Oblast, the 40th Separate Marine Brigade reported on
July 19.
The brigade said a swarm of modular Barracuda boats came
under attack while carrying out a combat mission. Russian forces used four
Lancet drones to disable one of the vessels.
Russian propagandists posted footage of the strike online
and “boasted” about it, but the loss of one boat did not stop the operation,
the marines said.
The remaining boats reached the drone launch point. After
conducting additional reconnaissance, the marines launched FPV drones that
struck Russian logistics, concealed positions and personnel in the Zaliznyi
Port area.
On June 24, the Ukrainian Navy and the Defense Ministry’s
Main Intelligence Directorate, or HUR, detected and destroyed three Russian
unmanned surface vessels in a single operation.
