Russian forces struck the Ukrainian city of Sumy with four guided aerial bombs on Tuesday, killing one person and damaging more than 20 private homes and civilian infrastructure, local authorities said.
The strikes hit the Zarichnyi and Kovpakivskyi districts of the city, according to Sumy’s acting mayor, Artem Kobzar, RBC Ukraine reported.

A man who was near one of the strike sites was killed in the attack, Kobzar said in a Telegram post.
More than 20 private houses and several civilian infrastructure facilities were also damaged.
Emergency crews were deployed to the affected areas as authorities assessed the aftermath and worked to determine the full extent of the destruction.
No additional casualties had been reported in preliminary information, although officials said the situation was still being assessed.
The strike on Sumy came amid a broader wave of Russian attacks across Ukraine.
Earlier Tuesday, a Russian attack in the Odesa region killed two people and injured three others after a tanker truck carrying oil residue was hit and caught fire.
The latest strikes have added to pressure on Ukrainian communities as Russian forces continue targeting areas near the country’s border and other civilian locations.
