The overnight assault came from six launch areas and left damage at multiple sites as defenders continued tracking threats across Ukraine.

Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 111 of the 133 drones used by Russian forces to attack the country on the evening of August 12 and overnight into August 13.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the attack began at 6:00 p.m. Russia used Shahed attack UAVs, including jet-powered variants, Gerbera drones, and Parodiya decoy drones.

Where the drones were launched from

The hostile drones were launched from several directions:

the Kursk region;
Oryol;
Millerovo;
Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia;
temporarily occupied Donetsk;
Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.

Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, were involved in repelling the air attack.

Consequences of the Russian attack on August 13

As of 8:00 a.m. on August 13, air defense forces had shot down or suppressed 111 Russian drones. The UAVs were neutralized in northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine.

Enemy UAV strikes were recorded at 15 locations. Debris from downed aerial targets fell at another 16 locations.

The Air Force emphasized that the air attack was ongoing and that several Russian drones remained in Ukrainian airspace.

Separately, Russian forces struck the Izmail district overnight. The attack damaged port infrastructure, and fires broke out at the impact sites.
