A farewell meeting opened a broader conversation about weapons production, regional coordination, and the next stage of bilateral relations.

On August 17, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with Ricardo López-Aranda Jagú, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Ukraine, who is concluding his diplomatic mission.

During the talks, the sides discussed the further development of the partnership between Ukraine and Spain, particularly in the areas of defense, the economy, and trade.

The interlocutors noted a significant intensification of Ukrainian-Spanish dialogue in the defense, economic, and trade sectors. Special attention was given to developing cooperation in the joint production of weapons.

Cooperation Between Ukraine and Spain

Another topic of the meeting was cooperation between the two countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Andrii Sybiha and Ricardo López-Aranda Jagú also discussed coordinating efforts to counter Russian disinformation.

Ukraine’s foreign minister thanked the Spanish side for its unwavering support for Ukraine’s European integration, including its future accession to the European Union.

Andrii Sybiha also noted Spain’s support for all EU sanctions packages targeting Russia. The meeting took place ahead of Ricardo López-Aranda Jagú’s completion of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine.
