Russia said on Sunday that one person was killed and four others were injured in Ukrainian airstrikes carried out overnight.
In Russia’s Belgorod region, a Ukrainian drone struck a car in the village of Golovchino, killing one person and injuring another, according to the regional operations headquarters, Anadolu Agency reported.
In the Rostov region, drones damaged two apartment buildings and injured three people, regional Governor Yury Slyusar said on Telegram.
Slyusar described the incident as a “massive air attack” and said that 30 drones had been destroyed in the region.
In the Ryazan region, a drone crashed and triggered a fire at a plant, Governor Pavel Malkov said on Telegram. He added that there were no preliminary reports of injuries.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that its forces had shot down 258 drones across the country, as well as over the annexed Crimea and the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
Separately, a Russian air attack targeting border infrastructure at a border crossing with Romania led to the temporary suspension of operations at the Orlivka checkpoint, according to the operational headquarters of the Izmail Regional State Administration, which reported the incident on Telegram.
Independent verification of the claims made by both sides remains difficult because of the ongoing war.
US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, visited Moscow on Saturday. They are expected to travel to Kyiv on Sunday as part of US-mediated efforts aimed at negotiating an end to the Russia-Ukraine war.
