Short films tease how reforms from digital courts to whistleblower safeguards will change everyday justice experiences for Ukrainian citizens.
The European project “Law-Justice” presented five social videos that highlight changes foreseen by the Roadmap on the Rule of Law in Ukraine. The campaign aims to raise citizens’ awareness of how European standards in justice and human rights protection come into effect.
According to the project’s official website, the main goal of the campaign is to reveal which reforms are being implemented on Ukraine’s path to the EU and how they affect the daily lives of citizens.
The videos cover five key areas of the Roadmap: digitization of justice, ensuring the enforcement of court decisions, the right to defense, the independence and impartiality of judges, and the protection of whistleblowers, and explain how these changes will affect society and users of the justice system.
Overview of the five videos
The first video demonstrates how digitization of justice simplifies citizens’ access to court services and interaction with courts.
In the second video, they explain how the digitization of enforcement proceedings ensures timely and transparent execution of court decisions and eases citizens’ interaction with the enforcement system.
The third video reveals the significance of the right to defense as a key guarantee of justice in labor and family disputes, in conflicts with the state, or in cases of loss of property.
The fourth video focuses on why the independence and impartiality of judges are the foundation of a fair decision, particularly in disputes with influential opponents.
The fifth video informs about current and future mechanisms for protecting whistleblowers in Ukraine, including the Single Whistleblower Reporting Portal, as well as steps to align guarantees with EU standards by expanding protection and improving safe reporting channels.
