Ukraine’s recent attacks on Crimea are being viewed as another attempt to put pressure on Russian president Vladimir Putin to end the war. But one national security expert doesn’t think that’s going to happen any time soon.<\/p>\n
“No, the war is probably far from over. Both sides don’t really see any advantages to stopping right now” said Harry Kazianis, president and founder of the National Security Journal.<\/p>\n
That’s because both sides, want to try and save face.<\/p>\n
“There’s no way for both sides at the same time to try and be able to claim victory, which is really the only way out of this whole thing” Kazianis told KTRH.<\/p>\n
That’s even with the efforts of President Trump, who has been trying to end the war for almost two years.<\/p>\n
“Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin both talk a lot about peace, and trying to find some solutions” noted Kazianis, “There’s a lot of talk, but I think long term I don’t see a real ‘peace’ if you will, I don’t see a treaty being signed. I think we’re going to go back to something kind of like the Korean war.”<\/p>\n
