{"id":14135,"date":"2026-07-07T16:16:53","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T16:16:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ukraine\/14135\/"},"modified":"2026-07-07T16:16:53","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T16:16:53","slug":"woman-suspected-in-monaco-bombing-found-shot-dead-near-kyiv-prosecutors-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ukraine\/14135\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman suspected in Monaco bombing found shot dead near Kyiv, prosecutors say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman suspected of carrying out a bomb attack in Monaco last week that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/europe\/20260629-monaco-residential-building-explosion-deliberate-attack\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">seriously injured a Ukrainian-born businessman<\/a> has been found dead in Ukraine, and a military intelligence officer has been arrested \u200bin connection with her \u200cmurder, authorities said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The body of Anastasiia Berezovska, a Ukrainian citizen \u2060who was wanted by Interpol for the June 29 bombing, was found with gunshot wounds to the head and pistol cartridges nearby, Ukraine&#8217;s Prosecutor General&#8217;s Office said in \u200ca statement on Telegram.<\/p>\n<p>Two men have been detained on suspicion of killing Berezovska, including the employee \u2060of Ukraine&#8217;s military intelligence service (HUR) and a former police officer, the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The two men had communicated with Berezovska after she returned to Ukraine on July 1 and had made repeated transfers to her crypto \u200band bank accounts, the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The HUR employee had confessed to killing 39-year-old Berezovska \u200cwith the other defendant, the prosecutor general&#8217;s office said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He also said that he had not informed his superiors about his contacts with Berezovska, the money transfers, or any of his other actions, and had acted on his own initiative,&#8221; the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200ctwo men were arrested on suspicion of committing murder and are also believed to be involved in the Monaco bombing, the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>During a search of \u200bthe home of the former law enforcement officer, a basement room resembling a torture chamber was discovered, it added.<\/p>\n<p> Businessman sanctioned by Ukraine\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian-born property developer Vadym Yermolaiev, his partner and son were wounded in last Monday&#8217;s bomb attack, sources said.<\/p>\n<p>Yermolaiev, \u200bwho took Cypriot nationality seven years ago, was placed under sanctions by Ukraine in 2023, following Russia&#8217;s invasion \u200bthe previous year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a-read-more\">Read more<a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/europe\/20260701-who-is-ukrainian-oligarch-vadym-yermolaiev-the-suspected-target-of-the-monaco-bombing\" target=\"_self\" class=\"a-read-more__link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Who is Ukrainian oligarch Vadym Yermolaiev, the suspected target of the Monaco bombing?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian media reported the sanctions were a response to Yermolaiev&#8217;s alleged \u200bbusiness activities in Russian-occupied Crimea.
