(WBZ NewsRadio) — For more than a decade, a Concord woman has been collecting boxes of donated medical supplies and sending them to those on the front lines in Ukraine. Though in recent months, donations have slowed significantly.

Iryna Synakh and her family were concerned about escalating conflict and settled down in Concord around 2013, shortly before the Russo-Ukrainian war began.

“The people in Ukraine only have the Ukrainian Army to depend on… so we need to help them in any way we can,” Synakh told WBZ NewsRadio’s Emma Friedman.

On a monthly basis since then, long before Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Synakh has been sending packages to those fighting on the front lines.

“I send once a month, sometimes two times. Multiple the months by the years… it’s hundreds,” said Synakh.

With many friends and family still in Ukraine, Synakh receives lists of medical supplies needed on the front lines each month. She puts those items on an Amazon list, where people can purchase them and send them to her home at 210 Border Rd., Concord, MA 01742. Then she takes care of the rest.

“I am reaching out today to ask for your help. Every contribution, regardless of size, makes a difference. Your support helps provide critical assistance to those protecting their communities and their country, and ultimately helps save lives. Ukrainians need to know that they are not forgotten and that people around the world still stand with them,” Synakh wrote in her latest request for donations.

Donations have slowed this year, something she understands because many Americans are living with their own struggles.

“This year it’s already slowing down. So not so many people respond to my request,” she said.

Over the years, Ukrainians have expressed their appreciation for Synakh and her family’s support. She has several flags in her home that were sent to her full of signatures and expressions of love and support.

“We do what we can so I continue to send the stuff myself,” Synakh said while surrounded by boxes full of items, like gauze and tunicates.

You can find a list of donation requests here.

WBZ NewsRadio’s Emma Friedman (@EmmaFriedmanWBZ) reports.

CONCORD, Mass.
