Kyiv, 5 June 2026 \u2014 The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine has supported the modernisation of Ukraine\u2019s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) monitoring platform, which is administered by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine. The modernisation was funded by the Government of Japan under the project \u201cSupporting Inclusive Recovery for Resilient and Secure People in Ukraine,\u201d with expert assistance from the Diia Support Project, which is implemented by UNDP in Ukraine with funding from the Government of Sweden.<\/p>\n

The platform upgrade will help ensure there is transparent and user-friendly access to data on Ukraine\u2019s progress in achieving the SDGs, particularly in the context of war and national recovery. The platform has been updated in line with the new national SDG framework and indicator set that was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in 2024.<\/p>\n
The updates include the integration of the new structure of goals and indicators, improved functionality and design, enhanced data visualisation, bilingual support in Ukrainian and English, and strengthened accessibility and security features. In addition, historical data from the previous SDG monitoring system has been preserved, enabling the long-term tracking of trends and progress.<\/p>\n
The Head of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, Arsen Makarchuk, emphasised the practical importance of the platform\u2019s modernisation:\u00a0\u201cThe updated SDG platform provides a unified, up-to-date and structured presentation of data on Ukraine\u2019s progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals,\u201d he said. \u201cIt supports progress measurement, making it transparent, comparable and easy to understand. This strengthens the evidence base for managerial and policy decisions and reinforces trust in data as a reliable foundation for decision-making. Olena Ursu, UNDP Programme Specialist, Democratic Governance and Inclusive Social Fabric (Team Leader), highlighted the importance of the platform upgrade for tracking Ukraine\u2019s progress towards the SDGs: \u201cThe Sustainable Development Goals provide clear development benchmarks for countries \u2013 they are not abstract indicators, but a practical framework\u00a0for shaping policies aimed at improving people\u2019s well-being, ensuring sustainable economic development and strengthening effective governance,\u201d Ursu said.\u00a0\u201cThe updated platform provides access to up-to-date national data and enables comprehensive tracking of Ukraine\u2019s progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the context of the full-scale war, the availability of reliable and open data is particularly important for planning recovery efforts, assessing their impact and ensuring accountability. UNDP in Ukraine continues to support the digital transformation of the public sector and the strengthening of institutional capacity as an important prerequisite for Ukraine\u2019s sustainable development and European integration.\u201d<\/p>\n

The SDG monitoring platform of Ukraine was developed on the Open SDG open-source platform in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Order No. 686-\u0440 of 21 August 2019. The State Statistics Service of Ukraine is responsible for collecting, processing and publishing data on national SDG indicators.<\/p>\n
In 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, with UNDP support, updated the national Sustainable Development Goals framework and approved a new set of 309 indicators for monitoring Ukraine\u2019s progress towards achieving the SDGs.<\/p>\n
