A group of Palm Beach County volunteers, local businesses, churches and cultural organizations came together to support nine Ukrainian children now living in Florida with a visit to Palm Beach County. <\/p>\n
Each of those children lost a parent in Ukraine’s war with Russia that began in 2022. <\/p>\n
Sunday and Monday, those kids are being treated to some of Palm Beach County’s most iconic attractions, including Flagler Museum in West Palm Beach and a boat tour along the Intracoastal Waterway. <\/p>\n
Other activities include time with the International Bible Church in Boca Raton and meals donated by local restaurants. <\/p>\n
The visit came together in a few days to give these young people an unforgettable experience on Florida’s coast. <\/p>\n
“I can’t change their circumstances, but I can offer these children a few days where they can laugh, make happy memories, and simply enjoy being kids,” organizer Eddah Wanyoike said. “Even the smallest acts of kindness can remind a child that they are seen, valued, and never forgotten.” <\/p>\n
Added Nadiia Chernovil, co-founder of MuHuGo, the Museum of Human Goals, in Boynton Beach. “We see this trip as a meaningful cultural bridge connecting Ukrainian teens with the American community. Our goal is to give them a safe space to recharge, to dream again, and to believe in their future.” <\/p>\n
Russian President Vladimir Putin, claiming a need to “demilitarize and denazify” Ukraine, launched a massive multi-front assault on Feb. 24, 2022. <\/p>\n
Russian attacks this month have killed at least 377 civilians and injured 2,129, making it the deadliest month of the war. <\/p>\n
Estimates for total deaths in the war have surpassed 450,000 for Russian forces and 125,000 to 150,000 for Ukrainian troops, alongside more than 16,400 verified civilian deaths. Total combined casualties, including killed and wounded, exceed 2 million. <\/p>\n
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday, a White House official confirmed to ABC News on Saturday. <\/p>\n
