Kyiv among the hardest-hit cities<\/p>\n
Kyiv was among the cities that suffered the greatest losses in July. At least 54 civilians were killed in the capital, while another 202 people were injured.<\/p>\n
The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine linked the increase in deaths and injuries to the more active use of ballistic and cruise missiles by the Russian armed forces. Throughout July, Russia used at least 429 missiles against Ukraine \u2013 twice as many as in June. A significant number of these attacks targeted Kyiv.<\/p>\n

The highest number of confirmed civilian casualties in July was caused by strikes using long-range weapons \u2013 missiles and drones. These attacks accounted for 38% of all recorded casualties.<\/p>\n
183 civilians were killed by missile and long-range drone strikes;

\nother causes of casualties included aerial bombardments and short-range drone attacks near the front line.<\/p>\n

Since February 24, 2022, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has confirmed the deaths of at least 16,874 civilians in Ukraine. Among them were 820 children.<\/p>\n
