Farmers say that the situation is linked to a reduction in market supply, as hot weather has somewhat slowed the maturation of this crop in producing farms.

In particular, Ukrainian growers are currently offering white cabbage at UAH 15-22/kg ($0.34-0.49/kg), which is on average 37% higher than at the end of the previous working week. A week ago, prices for this product did not exceed UAH 18/kg ($0.40/kg). Moreover, the quality of white cabbage has deteriorated significantly due to the spread of diseases and pests in the fields, which has also enabled sellers to raise asking prices for high-quality produce.

Read also: Watermelon prices continue to decline in Ukraine

Industry experts attribute the upward price trend to the rather limited supply of white cabbage currently available on the market. Most farms have already completed sales of early-season cabbage varieties, while later varieties have not yet begun arriving on the market in substantial volumes. At the same time, demand remains quite strong, further supporting price growth.

It should be noted that cabbage prices in Ukraine are already, on average, 59% higher than during the same period last year. Moreover, if current sales rates remain unchanged, local farmers intend to continue making attempts to increase prices in this segment.

More detailed information about developments in the white cabbage market and other fruit and vegetable sectors in Ukraine is available on the EastFruit website.

     EastFruit

The use of the site materials is free if there is a direct and open for search engines hyperlink to a specific publication of the East-Fruit.com website.

A shortage of new-crop white cabbage is currently being observed on the Ukrainian market, according to analysts at…

[3
922,26,923
post-28796","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","tag-prices","tag-ukraine","tag-white-cabbage
["GET
