It is not yet clear exactly what they are, but an announcement is expected in the coming weeks, as efforts to end the war in Ukraine gather pace. This is the first trip by US President Donald Trump’s top negotiators to Ukraine’s capital. Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have agreed to halt strikes on each other’s capitals for three days. As Witkoff and Kushner were negotiating at the Kremlin, Zelensky said he and his team were “ready for the conversation”, and that they were “interested in bringing the end of the war closer”. Posting on social media, he said, peace and security guarantees were needed, and it was “important to work in a coordinated, substantive, and realistic manner”.
