GDANSK, June 23 (Reuters) – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development plans to sign new investments worth more than \u20ac500 \u200cmillion ($571 million) in Ukraine’s critical sectors at a conference \u200cfor the country’s recovery this week, EBRD Banking Vice President Matteo Patrone said.<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u200bPatrone told Reuters the bank continued to focus on Ukraine’s energy sector.<\/p>\n
\u2022 EBRD expects to sign a loan for a 189 MW wind power plant, developed by one of Ukraine’s largest filling stations \u200cGalnaftogaz, at a two-day \u2060conference in the Polish costal city of Gdansk.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Another a loan for a 120 MW wind power \u2060plant operated by the German renewable energy company Notus Energy is expected to be signed.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The bank plans to sign deals worth about \u20ac270 \u200bmillion \u200bof EBRD finance with seven Ukrainian \u200bbanks.<\/p>\n
\u2022 During more than \u200cfour years of the war, Russia has pounded Ukraine’s energy infrastructure with missile and drone strikes, damaging generation and transmission facilities.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Last winter, Russian attacks damaged more than half of Ukraine’s power generation capacity.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The EBRD, one of the largest lenders to Ukraine, \u200chas deployed more than \u20ac10 billion in the \u200bcountry since the start of Russia’s \u200bfull-scale invasion in February \u200b2022, including \u20ac3.5 billion in the energy sector.<\/p>\n
\u2022 To \u200cboost renewable energy investment the EBRD, \u200bEU and the \u200bWorld Bank are setting up a mechanism to give price stability to independent power producers and energy generators, Patrone said.<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u200bIt should allow \u200cinvestment of up to 1.5 GW of renewable energy \u200bin Ukraine, he added.<\/p>\n
