LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Kentuckians who want to vote in the upcoming general elections have until Monday, Oct.5 at 4 p.m. to register.
General election day is Nov. 3.
Secretary of State Michael Adams says more than 12,000 people signed up to vote in September, the highest one-month total since 2024.
Independent and third-party registrations once again outpaced new Republicans and Democrats, according to his office
Residents can register or update their information online, or fill out a paper application and mail or submit it to their county clerk’s office before the deadline.
According to ky.gov, to register to vote, you must:
Be a U.S. citizen and a Kentucky resident for at least 28 days before the election.Non-U.S. citizens, including U.S. nationals, do not qualify;Be at least 18 years old by the next General Election;Kentucky law allows qualified individuals to register at 17 years of age and be able to participate in a Primary Election if the individual will be 18 years old by the General Election;Not be a convicted felon (or, if convicted of a felony, my right to vote has been restored following an expungement, Executive Pardon, or Executive Order;Not have been judged mentally incompetent in a court of law and have voting rights removed;Not claim the right to vote outside Kentucky;
