North Texans hoping a cool down will arrive soon will have to wait a little longer.
Another stretch of triple-digit temperatures is on its way to North Texas, accompanied by an elevated wildfire threat.
Friday is forecast to see a high of 102 degrees, with a low of 79. The heat index, or “feels like” temperature, is projected to reach 107 degrees.
North Texans may see some clouds and wind gusts, which are expected to reach 24 mph, according to the weather service.
Little to no rainfall is expected in Dallas-Fort Worth for the next week, according to the weather service. The region’s triple-digit heat is also expected to continue for the next week at least, according to the weather service.
Fire weather concerns are also expected to continue over the next several days as the humidity remains low and winds stay high.
“Virtually no changes are anticipated to the persistent hot, dry pattern which grips North Central Texas,” the weather service said in its Thursday afternoon forecast.
The weather service encourages North Texans to take precautions such as avoiding outdoor burning, securing any loose tow chains and never tossing lit cigarettes.
