BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Workers and community members are expected to picket outside the University of Vermont Medical Center on Friday following the expiration of a contract for more than 3,000 support staff and technical professionals.
Since the contract has expired, union workers can legally hold work stoppages and pickets.
Labor union AFT Vermont said the unions have been bargaining with the hospital since April to update their contracts.
The unions said they want livable wages and improved staffing enforcement.
The picketing is expected outside the hospital’s main entrance.
