Investigators used security camera video and automatic number-plate recognition to make an arrest in a jewelry theft in Burbank.
On June 27, Burbank police responded to the area of Victory Boulevard and Elmwood Avenue after receiving a report of a robbery. When officers arrived, the victim told them that he was walking through an alley when he was attacked from behind and forcibly robbed of a gold necklace.
Investigators used surveillance video and ALPR technology, and coordinated efforts with regional law enforcement partners to identify and locate the robber. On Aug. 5, a suspect was arrested and booked on suspicion of robbery.
Criminal charges are pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Detectives continue to investigate the possibility that the suspect may be responsible for additional crimes in the region.
