One preseason game down, one Dallas Cowboys win in the books.

After a slow start, the Cowboys found a way to slow down the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday night at Lumen Field in Seattle. Dallas also found an impressive offensive boost from undrafted rookie receiver Camden Brown.

The Cowboys are off to a strong start this preseason. The defense improved as the game went along. Joe Milton and Sam Howell both had positive moments at quarterback. Camden Brown was the big name to watch. Dallas defeats Seattle 17-7 to open the preseason.

Dallas’ defense came up with a huge stop to keep Seattle out of the end zone. The Cowboys needed to hold Seattle off after Traeshon Holden muffed a punt in a dangerous spot. After the Cowboys came up with some key tackles, Isaiah Land sacked Jalen Milroe to force a turnover on downs. Dallas holds a 10-point lead with 6:40 left in the quarter.

The Cowboys have a key injury to monitor after Saturday night’s preseason opener. Running back Phil Mafah was ruled out in the fourth quarter after sustaining a chest injury. Mafah is one of several running backs vying for a role on Dallas’ roster behind starter Javonte Williams.

The Cowboys hold a 10-point lead as the third quarter ends in Seattle. Dallas is looking to stop Seattle from punching it in on fourth-and-4. Drew Lock is leading the offensive drive for the Seahawks.

It’s becoming the Camden Brown show in Seattle. The undrafted rookie receiver caught his second touchdown pass of the night, extending Dallas’ lead in style. This time, Brown helped Joe Milton cap off a scoring drive. Milton threw a back-shoulder pass to Brown, who came down with a wild one-handed 2-yard touchdown grab. Brown is making his case to carve out a role on Dallas’ offense. Cowboys lead by 10. Cowboys 17, Seahawks 7

The Cowboys are going into the break with the lead. After Camden Brown’s big touchdown reception, Dallas’ defense came up with some key stops to keep Seattle from tying things up. James Houston got to Jalen Milroe to stop the Seahawks’ momentum. Cowboys lead 10-7 as the first half ends.

The Cowboys have taken the lead as the second quarter winds down. Sam Howell led a quick scoring drive that ended with an impressive 39-yard touchdown grab from undrafted rookie Camden Brown. Brown ran a go route toward the end zone, then overpowered a defender as he pulled down the scoring reception. Dallas takes the lead with 0:45 left in the second. Cowboys 10, Seahawks 7

It wasn’t the smoothest outing for Dallas’ defense, but Seattle didn’t add to its lead. Quarterback Jalen Milroe led the Seahawks on a long drive, covering 60 yards on 15 plays. The Seahawks had worked their way into the red zone when an offensive holding call pushed them back 10 yards on fourth down. While the Cowboys struggled to contain Milroe, they got a good break when Seahawks kicker Jason Myers missed a 45-yard field goal attempt. Cowboys still trail 7-3 with 2:04 left in the second.

Sam Howell connected with Jonathan Mingo for some positive gains. Dallas’ offensive drive then stalled at Seattle’s 10-yard line. After a Howell pass to Anthony Smith fell incomplete, the Cowboys settled for a field goal early in the second quarter. Brandon Aubrey smoothly nailed a 29-yarder to cut into Seattle’s lead. Cowboys trail 7-3 with 11:17 left in the second.

The first quarter has ended at Lumen Field. Dallas’ offense is in a decent spot as we head into the second quarter. The Sam Howell-led unit faces third-and-4 as it looks to get near the red zone. Howell has completed key passes to Jaydon Blue (13-yard reception) and Jonathan Mingo (11-yard catch). Cowboys trail 7-0 heading into the second.

Dallas’ first offensive drive goes nowhere. Running back Jaydon Blue picked up six yards on the ground, but a false start penalty from Nate Thomas pushed the Cowboys back on third down. Facing a third-and-9, Sam Howell’s pass to Anthony Smith fell incomplete. Dallas’ defense returns to the field in Seattle with 6:03 left in the first quarter.

It hasn’t been a great preseason start for Christian Parker’s defense. Quarterback Drew Lock led a long drive for the Seahawks, capping it off with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Montorie Foster Jr. The big play for Dallas’ defense: a tackle for loss from Marist Liufau. The bad: Caelen Carson got called for two big penalties (defensive pass interference and a facemask). Cowboys trail early with 7:42 left in the first quarter. Seahawks 7, Cowboys 0

Which Cowboys running backs will get the bulk of the carries in Seattle? It appears we’ll get a heavy dose of Jaydon Blue, Phil Mafah and other names. Dallas will also give a few younger players a look along the offensive line.

Jerry Jones briefly spoke about the aftermath of the Micah Parsons trade. He particularly emphasized that the trade helped Dallas land players like DT Quinnen Williams:

Don’t expect to see members of Dallas’ offensive line on the field Saturday night. There are a few key players in uniform, including cornerback Shavon Revel. Here’s more from our Joseph Hoyt:

Christian Parker will be close to the action. The Cowboys’ new defensive coordinator is expected to call plays from the sideline Saturday night.

A few key names won’t take the field Saturday night in Seattle. The tight end spot is intriguing, as Brevyn Spann-Ford will sit out while Luke Schoonmaker will play. We’ll also get a chance to see Dallas’ first-rounders in action.

Saturday marks Christian Parker’s first time walking into an NFL stadium as a defensive coordinator. Cowboys fans will get a chance to see his new scheme in action. Meanwhile, other big names have arrived at Lumen Field. A key player to watch in Seattle: Running back Jaydon Blue.
