JACKSONVILLE – Jaguars 2025 Training Camp continued Monday.
It was the fifth day of the first training camp under Head Coach Liam Coen, featuring an hour-and-15-minute practice in helmets and shoulder pads at the Miller Electric Center. Each day throughout camp, members of Jaguars Media – senior writer John Oehser, senior correspondent Brian Sexton, senior reporter/editor J.P. Shadrick and team reporter Kainani Stevens – will share an observation.
Here are Monday’s “campservations:”
John Oehser, Jaguars Senior Writer…
- Day 5 of Jaguars ’25 camp was Day 1 in pads – and Monday had the expected rise in intensity that padded practice brings. The Jaguars moved into contact team work in Period 5 – a period that from this view featured unusually hard hitting on run plays for the first padded work. Head Coach Liam Coen talked last week of the offensive line anticipating working in pads for the first time – and Monday reflected that. Hat tip to defensive end Josh Hines-Allen – who forced a fumble by tight end Brenton Strange while dropping in pass coverage – and to rookie running back LeQuint Allen, who continues to produce quality runs on what seems like a daily basis. Also continuing to stand out: First-year wide receiver Joshua Cephus, who got behind the defense Monday for a deep reception from quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Cephus has made an eye-catching play in nearly every practice so far. With Monday’s practice comparatively short as players acclimated to pads, look for the intensity to rise again Tuesday in a longer session that should feature more extended full-contact periods.
