TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A fire in Tempe tore through an apartment complex, hurting one person, damaging five units and displacing several residents, according to officials with the Tempe Fire Department.
Crews responded to the fire near Hardy Drive and Baseline Road and found heavy flames and smoke on the first and second floors of the apartment complex.
Tempe, Phoenix and Arizona Fire and Medical Authority crews aggressively attacked the fire and brought it under control, officials said.
One person was evaluated by first responders at the scene and taken to the hospital for further medical care. The extent of their injuries and their condition is unknown.
Ten residents are now displaced, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
