KERRVILLE, Texas – In response to ongoing operational challenges at the city’s water treatment plant, the City of Kerrville has declared a water supply emergency and enacted Stage 4 Severe Water Conservation Conditions, effective starting Tuesday.
The declaration was issued the city’s water utility indicated that the water treatment plant remains inoperable due to flooding in Nimitz Lake. The flooding damaged the plant’s intake equipment and other critical systems, rendering the facility nonfunctional.
Under Stage 4 restrictions, all use of automatic sprinklers, hose-end sprinklers, and soaker hoses is prohibited at all times, regardless of the day or time. The restrictions are intended to preserve the city’s limited water supply while repairs to the treatment plant are underway.
City officials emphasized that the emergency declaration is a preventative water management measure and does not reflect any issue with water quality. Kerrville continues to supply treated water through its groundwater wells, which remain operational and safe for use.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed and review full Stage 4 guidelines by visiting the city’s website at www.kerrvilletx.gov.
