Individual in ‘Chucky’-style mask accused of harassing people near Philadelphia City Hall
PHILADELPHIA —
Police are searching for a masked individual who allegedly chased, threatened, and harassed people near Philadelphia City Hall last Wednesday morning.
Masked suspect allegedly films encounters
The suspect, wearing a “Chucky”-style Halloween mask, was first spotted near 15th and Chestnut streets around 5:18 a.m., police said.
Investigators said he ran up to people to scare them while holding up a cellphone, indicating he was filming.
Women chased and threatened
Police said the man also entered a nearby Dunkin’, where employees refused to serve him because of the mask.
He allegedly chased, cornered, and threatened a woman who was jogging, and blocked another woman’s path while repeatedly asking, “Are you ready to die?”
The second woman ran away screaming for help and injured her leg.
Police search for suspect
The suspect was last seen entering Suburban Station at 5:35 a.m., police said.
“He’s wearing all black with a mask, a scary mask, so you can’t see any of his identifying features. He just comes up and terrorizes people,” said Kate Egan, who works in the area.
Police described the suspect as a thin Black male, between 16 and 20 years old, and about 5 feet 8 inches.
He faces charges including terroristic threats, harassment, and simple assault.
