The Kansas City Chiefs made several roster changes to add younger players ahead of the 2026 season. Their offseason decision not to retain players who contributed to Super Bowl titles made them available to new teams.
Popular former Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is reportedly available after the New York Giants released him on Tuesday. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Giants officially signed veteran running back Najee Harris and released Smith-Schuster to open the roster spot.
Smith-Schuster had a chance to once again play for the new Giants offensive coordinator, Matt Nagy, after years together with the Chiefs. Injuries during training camp slowed the veteran receiver’s progress, and he missed the preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings.
Last season in Kansas City, Smith-Schuster finished with 33 catches for 345 yards and a touchdown. He made a name for himself as an excellent blocker and a mentor in the locker room to younger receivers. He’s already spent two stints with the Chiefs, leaving room for a potential third tour in 2026 if needed.
