A new strip mall is officially on its way to San Antonio’s Far Westside, adding yet another slate of fresh retail options, sit-down restaurants and service-based stores set to arrive in the region in the coming years.

The Kallison River Plaza broke ground last week, according to Core Commercial realtor Moises Hernandez. The 11,200-square-foot property is expected to complete construction by March or April 2027. Located at the busy intersection of Culebra Road and Talley Road, the project is part of an effort to bring more convenient offerings to the growing area, sparing local residents lengthy drives into the Alamo City.

By next spring, Far Westside residents could see a brand-new United Parcel Service (UPS) store, an urgent care medical facility and a personalized gym at the Kallison Ranch-area development.

Hernandez also shared that he is discussing pre-leasing options with Italian and seafood restaurants, as well as Lost Bar, a sporty brewpub that will anchor the strip mall. A social media post shared by Core Commercial in a San Antonio Facebook group, “Potranco is growing,” dedicated to documenting the Far Westside’s development, noted that the space could also be used for a bakery, a Jiffy Lube and other quick-service restaurants.

“We are looking to provide more services in the area. One of the biggest complaints we get from a lot of people in the neighborhood is that, to get services, they have to travel all the way to the (Loop) 1604 and Culebra area, which is now taking anywhere from 30-45 minutes,” Hernandez said.

The real estate agent shared with MySA that the development is across the street from what many anticipate will be a new Walmart location — the retail giant’s first additional location in San Antonio in a decade — and from a new Santikos location.
