PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for August 19, 2026:
Carniceria La Costancia – 1109 E Main Street, Mesa
3 violations:
- Salsa bucket under meat bags in cooler
- Salsa and dips not date marked
- Sanitizer solution not at correct level
Paul Martin’s American Grill – 6186 N Scottsdale Rd, Paradise Valley
3 violations:
- Hand wash sink not draining
- Queso cheese sauce not kept hot enough
- Tray of prime rib not date marked properly
Pizza Shack Slice House – 7145 E Main Street, Mesa
4 violations:
- Organic debris on cucumbers
- Eggs stored above deli meats
- Chili not kept hot enough
- Dead German cockroaches on the floor
Pitch Pizzeria – 18750 N Hayden Rd, Scottsdale
4 violations:
- Employee on cookline used cellphone then didn’t wash hands properly
- Package of raw salmon stored above pizza sauce
- Lettuce, cheese and raw ground turkey not kept cold enough
- Sandwich cooler not at proper temperature
Thai Food Corner – 5353 E Browm Road, Mesa
4 violations:
- No certified Food Manager
- Bags of raw chicken, beef and pork in same container with with visible blood
- Died up food debris on cutting machine
- Live cockroaches in the kitchen
