Patient diagnosed with measles at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH —
A case of measles has been confirmed in Allegheny County, according to a statement from UPMC on Thursday.
The diagnosis was made in an unvaccinated patient who was seen at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, a spokesperson for UPMC said in a statement.

“With the guidance of the Allegheny County Department of Health, everyone who may have been exposed to this patient at UPMC Children’s Hospital is being notified. There is no ongoing risk of contracting measles at the facility related to this patient,” UPMC said in its statement.
The Allegheny County Health Department said the patient was at the hospital’s emergency department on two different occasions, on Aug. 12 and Aug. 18.
“The individual was not from Allegheny County and the health department has confirmed with UPMC that the individual is currently isolated. For privacy reasons, the department cannot provide additional details about the individual,” the health department said, in part, in a statement.
