Another day of triple-digit heat is in the Friday weather forecast for North Texas, although there is a chance for some isolated thunderstorms later in the day.

North Texans can expect another day of searing heat Friday, with a heat index, or “feels like” temperature of close to 109 degrees, according to the weather service.

Some isolated thunderstorms may be possible across the Dallas-Fort Worth area Friday afternoon and evening, according to the weather service. The main concerns with any storm will be gusty winds and frequent lighting, the latter of which could cause wildfire starts.

Dallas-Fort Worth could tie or break the record high temperature for each of the next several days, according to the weather service. For example, the highest temperature recorded in the region on Saturday, Aug. 22 is 105 degrees, and the forecast currently calls for the mercury to reach forecast to reach 107 degrees.

The weather service expects to see triple-digit temperatures heading into next week, until at least Wednesday.

“No relief is in sight for our ongoing August heat,” the weather service said in its Thursday afternoon forecast.

The weather service encourages practicing heat safety, such as by avoiding spending time outdoors during the hottest part of the day and never leaving children or pets in a hot car.

A 5-year-old girl died in Garland after being left in a hot car outside her home Tuesday amid triple-digit heat.

Extreme heat can make individuals more susceptible to heat-related illness, such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke. The weather service encourages wearing loose-fitting, light-colored clothing and staying in the shade or air conditioning when possible.
