A project filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows that a new Whataburger will replace the Taco Cabana that shuttered last year on Yale Street.

Whataburger officials will begin construction of the $1 million renovation project in late October, with completion expected in spring 2027.
The American fast food chain specializes in hamburgers and is best known for its namesake, the Whataburger. The classic burger comes in a variety of options, including a single, double, or triple with toppings such as jalapeño, bacon and cheese.
Additional offerings include chicken strips and classic chicken sandwiches, as well as speciality items like the Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich and the Whataburger Patty Melt.
Whataburger also offers breakfast from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m.
