MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Friday Football Fever is back for the 2026 season. Tennessee schools across the Memphis metro area began their quest for a gold ball in scorching hot temperatures under Friday night lights.
Our Game of the Week featured one of the best rivalries in the area: The Battle for Germantown. A new season also represents a new era for the Red Devils, as former Ridgeway head coach Duron Sutton takes over in the same position at Germantown. Meanwhile, Houston is looking to make noise after a rebuilding year of sorts in 2025 saw the Mustangs go just 3-8.
In front of their home crowd, the Mustangs made a statement, racing out to a 26-0 halftime lead and cruising to an easy 40-6 victory over their rivals.
Other games featured Friday include:
- Fairley beating Millington at home 31-13
- Central going to Melrose and shutting out the Golden Wildcats 42-0
- Southwind defeating Lausanne 36-28
