Here are Friday’s latest updates:

■ Iran said on Friday that its response to any new U.S. threats would be “devastating” after Washington pledged to impose the toughest financial penalties in history with the aim of toppling the Iranian leadership.

■ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office called Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan an “antisemitic dictator” and accused him of massacring Kurds, harboring Hamas operatives, occupying half of Cyprus and imprisoning journalists and politicians who oppose him.

■ The Israeli military said Friday that troops operating in southern Gaza shot a Palestinian who crossed the IDF-controlled area and approached the soldiers “in a way that posed an immediate threat.”

■ The Israeli military said that it struck a building in the area it controls in southern Lebanon after it alleged that several “suspects” crossed into the territory.

■ Turkey has asked Interpol to enforce an arrest warrant issued against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in November, Justice Minister Akın Gurlek said.

■ The Israeli military said Friday that its soldiers were dispatched to the area near the West Bank village of Sa’ir, north of Hebron, after receiving a report that Palestinians were throwing rocks at a group of Israeli civilians who were in the area without prior authorization. The IDF did not comment on reports that the gunfire killed a 17-year-old Palestinian and seriously wounded a man in his 70s, or provide further details about the incident.

■ Belgium on Friday condemned Israel’s plans to advance construction in the E1 settlement area of the West Bank, saying the move threatens the prospects for a two-state solution and violates international law. Germany, Canada, France, Italy, Norway, New Zealand, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Belgium said in a joint statement that Israel’s decision to issue tenders for construction in E1 is “unacceptable.”

■ China rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of an “economic D-Day” against Iran, saying sanctions and pressure tactics are not a solution and urging disputes to be resolved through negotiations and dialogue.
