The regular season schedule for the Dallas Wings concludes on Sept. 23 in Seattle, but Paige Bueckers and Co. are closing in on clinching a spot in the postseason.
Regardless of Sunday’s result when Dallas faces Seattle at home in its next scheduled contest, a win against the Fire, who sit ninth in the WNBA standings, will guarantee a spot in the playoffs for the Wings for the first time since the 2023 season.
Dallas currently holds the eighth and final qualifying spot, but with seven games left to play, there is still a chance to improve the Wings’ outlook.
While the Minnesota Lynx (31-7) have separated themselves from the pack at the top of the league, the Wings (21-16) are only 4.5 games behind Golden State (25-11), who owns the WNBA’s second-best record.
Dallas is only a half game behind Washington (21-15) for the No. 7 seed and a full game behind New York (22-15) for the sixth spot.
If the season ended today, the Wings would face the Lynx in a three-game opening round matchup.
